Acc. No. 25.30.1 A, B Subject Category: WWII (World War II) Date or Period: 1942-1946 Object: Uniform Description: Navy Blue canvas jacket (A) and pants (B). The pants (B) have straight legs, resulting in a bell-bottom effect. There are two small pockets at the front waistband and one on the left rear, and a closure flap, attached to the pants legs with darted sewing. The flap has 3 buttons on each side, 1 on each corner, and 5 along the top, plus 2 to close the waistband. The pants have been resized to a narrower size in the back. The jacket (A) has long sleeves, with 3 white ribbons sewn on the cuff and a two-button closure, and a sailor collar with 3 white ribbons sewn on, and an embroidered star on the inside corners of the flap. It has a small pocket in the center in the neck, another hidden one inside the right collar, and a slightly bigger outside pocket on the left breast, which has darted sewing at the sides. A label sewn into the pocket in the collar has FW630 / 101 with handwritten in pen. Rating patch has been removed from the sleeve. All buttons appear to be made of a hard plastic with an emprinted anchor. Size: A: circa L 23 x W 17 inches; B: leg: 42 inches, waistband 28 inches (14 doubled). History of Object: Blue working uniform worn during WWII by Alameda resident James Winfred Walton (1919-2014). He attained rank EM1/c, Electrical Mate first class Petty Officer. The patch indicating the rank was not donated and has presumably been retained by the heirs, but can be clearly seen on the images in booklet 25.30.3. Donor: James N.
