Original tag had number U1. Inscribed “Casey & Co. Auburn, N.Y.” and “E. Chatman” Size: approx. 9.5” W by 7” T History of Object: Casey & Co. 9.5” Hand plane No. 1, part of a collection of carpentry tools, owned by John Ucovich (presumed), an immigrant carpenter from Montenegro. John Ucovich moved to Alameda around 1925, and ran a trucking business in Oakland. By 1938 John (aged 61) lived with his wife, Myrtle May, at 775 Santa Clara.
