Description: American-made settee which can seat two people. The frame appears to be made of maple wood that harmonizes with the contemporary tapestry upholstery which has a pattern of checks and stylized flowers in a gold and green color on tan background. The armrests, which are open, have a center carved medallion that is repeated on the upper stiles and armrests. The back consists of two upholstered medallion-type cushions and a cresting of machine and partial hand carved stylized leaves. The cushions are separated by a stylized scroll sawed grill. The four legs are supported by casters.
Size: H-36 in., W-48 in., seat depth - 21 inches.
History of Object: A settee that originally belonged to Sophia May, mother of Bertha, who was the wife of Henry H. Meyers. In turn it was given by Mrs. May to her daughter and family.
