Ms. Smith was an accomplished china painter, practicing her art in Alameda in the 1890's and early 1900's. She also painted in water color and oils. Beside painting and selling her wares she also taught china painting. Ms. Elizabeth Thomas, Mrs. Tilden, Mrs. Lum (the elder) being some of her students.
