History of Object: Portrait of San Francisco businessman Henry Benson. He resided at the hotel located at 1301-5 High St., Alameda, for some years. Coincidently, Mr. Benson appears to be a figure standing in front of this hotel in a vintage image owned by the Alameda Museum (see copy attached to this card). Mr. Benson was a widower and his children attended Catholic schools (probably Notre Dame Academy). He left the area after the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906.
