Acc. No. 81.261.1 Subject Category: Clocks Date or Period: 1870 Object: Clock, shelf Description: Walnut case, in the Gothic style. The complete front of the clock is on a hinge for opening. The clock has brass works and rim around the face is brass. There is no manufacturer's signature on the clock proper. But the brass winding key has incised lettering "Waterbury Clock Co.". Top of the clock has a pediment with three delicate turnings. The case is accentuated with walnut veneer panels. The case of the clock is hydraulically laminated in a curved shape. It has an elaborate nickel-plated pendulum. Size: 24" high and 14"x5" base. History of Object: Victorian shelf clock, circa 1870, a wedding present to Mr. & Mrs. August Koerber. Mr. Koerber and relatives own the Koerber Wood and Coal Yards. He was also appointed a member of the Alameda Volunteer Fire Department. Acquired from: Miss Wilhelmine Koerber Date: April 23, 1959
