Metal buttonhook, with the handle formed by curling the rod and stamping the company name and address. Stamped text reads: Durein's - 1505 Park St. - Alameda. The buttonhook is mounted on green plush in a gold-colored shadowbox frame, with green label: 'Buttonhook from Durein's Shoe Store 1863-1928'.
Size: hook: L 5" (frame: L 5 1/2" X W 7 1/2")
History of Object: Complimentary buttonhook from Joe Durein's Shoe Store, also known as the Pioneer Shoe Store. Durein's was one of the first merchants on Park Street. The business was damaged in the 1920 Park Street Fire, and much of the inventory lost.
