Hard bound ledger book, 638 pages. Brown leather cover with bands of red leather accentuated with gold. Spine of book states in incised gold letters "Ledger".

History of Object: This is the ledger of J. A. Collins known to have been an active carpenter from the mid 1880's to 1913, in the city of Alameda. It is a journal of a carpenter's work from 1891-1910, listing amount of materials used and labor required on specific building projects. It also lists the names of clients, some early pioneer residents of the community.
