History of Object: Folder found in City Hall attic in the 1990s, with publications, photos, and one 1919 quote from Chaplin Motor Sales Company, Park and Central. According to notes made in 2011, the tab originally stated ‘Automobile’. Publications found in this folder: Charter booklet, updated until 1935; stack of a 1919 Notice to Housekeepers, about proper garbage disposal (by Charles Hewes); 3 c. 1948 maps published by the Chamber of Commerce, which have been marked to divide the island into a first, second, and third detail, with a card stapled to each indicating how many men were assigned (Police?); mid-1930s Promotional brochure (2 copies) by Alameda County titled ‘The Voice of Metropolitan Oakland’; brochure ‘The Natural industrial center of the West, Metropolitan Oakland’ - 2 copies, one with a flyer indicating it was published 1937. Also includes 1930 photographs of Arks or Estuary Shacks in bad repair and survey of population by Building Inspector E. H. Rogers.
