Description: Elaborate daguerreotype case, grape motif on exterior cover, interior contains daguerreotype with gold plated oval mat.
Size: 3½x4 inches.
History of Object: Daguerreotype of Hannah, wife of Elijah Smith, mother of Henry, Lura, & Mary J. Smith. No historical importance in Alameda history other than she was the original owner of the painting "Illinois Gaming Birds", painted by Earle, 1870, which was brought to Alameda in the 1890's by her children. She did not reside here. The above-mentioned painting is in the collection of the Historical Society.
