4/6/2020 MvL: current label: Alameda Barracks #635 Veterans of World War I Assorted memorabilia connected with this veterans' organization. Note: The Veterans of World War I of the USA, Inc. was organized in 1948. In 1989, when it hosted the Veteran's Day remembrance at Arlington National Cemetery, there were some 100,000 WWI veterans remaining, whose average age was 94. The organization's executive office at Arlington, VA closed c. 2008, and the US Dept. of Veteran's Affairs acts as the administrator of this organization. The Alameda group, Barracks #635, ceased to exist in the 1970's.
