ACC. NO. 83.53.3 SUBJECT CATEGORY: Clothing DATE OR PERIOD: c. 1900 (late) OBJECT: Bloomers DESCRIPTION: white cotton with an embroidered flounce (machine made). Size: Gathered waist is 30", length is 23". HISTORY OF OBJECT: Belonged to either the Miss E. L. or Miss M. A. Dietz, founders of Sunny Cove Beach, Alameda (1881). These ladies came to Alameda from Oakland where their brother had founded the Dietz Opera House. Sunny Cove Beach ran up to the 1950's. The Dietz ladies were great aunts of the donor.
