Description: Cast iron jack resting on rectangular base with central unit consisting of serrated teeth with handle. On the opposite side of this unit is a tongue, which serves as a lift rest, while the handle is activated. Constructed with 7 pieces bolted together, no manufacturer's name, serial number, or patent mark can be found.
Size: base-6½x3½ inches, 20 inches high.
History of Object:
Carriage & wagon jack belonging to James W. & his brother, John E. Love. Both men drove wagons for the Loop Lumber Company (and its predecessor), Alameda, and were early residents of the community. The jack was used for business & pleasure vehicles.
