Description:
American Victorian Renaissance revival-style sideboard. The main body of the sideboard is a cabinet with 2 drawers and 2 cupboard doors. The cupboard doors have applied trophy swags of carved fruit and leaves. Doors are opened by tear-drop pulls. A wide color marble top supports a backboard containing 2 shelves that are supported by scroll saw brackets with turn finials. Intern, the upper shelf supports a decorative pediment with elaborate crest with carved fruit and leaves. The central motif of the pediment has a medallion with a carved goat head with antlers, flanked by burl walnut panels.

History:
The following collection is from the late-Robert John Schmidt, Jr., born June 23, 1910, and died October 27, 2001. Mr. Schmidt was employed as a clerk typist at the Alameda Naval Air Station for many years. His parents, Robert John and Louise A. Weber Schmidt were both originally from Germany and lived in San Francisco prior to moving to Alameda. They purchased 1915 Everett Street in 1914 and farmed the lot adjoining the residence. Mr. Schmidt was a life-long resident of Alameda and attended schools here.
