Object: Case, carrying
Description: Wooden box, covered with leather, incised with a pattern. It has nickel-plated key lock and two fasteners on either side of the lock. The corners also have metal corner guards. The lid of the box has leather handle for carrying. On the front the box has a paper seal that says "Herbert D. Clark" and a paper seal that says "Citizens Bank of Alameda", placed over the lid seam to indicate that the box had been opened. On the bottom of the exterior of the box there is a label that says "H. D. C., March 10, 1916". Interior of box is covered with varnished burlap.
Size: 11" high and 6 3/4" wide 13 3/4" length.
History of Object: Leather case used by families wishing to store their silverware in the bank while on vacation. This case was given by the Alameda Citizens Savings Bank (located where the present Bank of America now stands) at the comer of Santa Clara and Park. This box belonged to Herbert Clark, a director of the bank.

3. Leather-covered storage box issued by the Citizens Bank of Alameda at Santa Clara Ave. & Park St. (now the Bank of America). It was intended to transport valuables for storage in the bank's vault. Used by Herbert D.Clark, a member of an early Alameda family, C. 1900.
