History of Object: Folders, found in the attic of City Hall, pertaining to miscellaneous complaints:
A: #233: 1928, petition complaining about ringing of Church Bells of the Catholic Church at San Antonio and Lafayette (St. Joseph's Basilica).
B: #249, 1929, complaint by G. L. Diehl, 1538 Verdi Street, whose flower gardens attracted much attention from bee hives, kept by his neighbor J. R. Joseph of 1532 Verdi Street.
C: #257, 1929, petition by 8 neighbors on 8th, Taylor and Haight, against Neptune Beach loudspeakers broadcasting Public Radio.
D: #258, 1929-1932, 1929 complaint about tennis players at McKinley Park climbing fences and destroying gardens, when looking for lost balls, further in this folder, repairs and loans of the McKinley Park house by Philomen Club, North Side Protective Club (complaining about damages and dirt), Alameda Tennis Club, Alameda Athletic Association, Tax Payers' League.
E. #260, 1929, complaint about garbage in rear of house occupied by Fred Linderman at 2001 Alameda Ave.
F. # 269, 1930, complaint by the East Lake Retail Meat Dealers' Association, about use of automatic ice box, allowing the sale of meat without service of a butcher.
G. # 279, 1930, Alameda Improvement Club, complaining about police department being used in advertising parade schemes. Also complaining that police beats are too large for the police to cover on foot, and that they should be given vehicles.
H. #275, 1930, pollution of refuse of sawdust with oil washed up on Cottage Baths shore. City Engineer Hamilton found no further evidence, and assumed it had been an accident. #281, 1930, complaint by Kilpatrick & Goodman, owners of the Keswick Apartments at 2510 Central Ave, complaining about the 'condition existing on the property' to the west.
I: #284, 1931, complaint petition about George and Estelle Gray of Oakland, breeding Alaskan and Siberian dogs at 403 Central Ave. Includes report of actions by A. Hieronymus, Health Officer.
J: # 294, 1931, complaint by North Side Protective Club about garbage being dumped along Eagle Ave.
K. # 299, 1931, complaint by Manager R. U. St. John of the San Francisco Bay Airdrome, Ltd, 2155 Webster St., about the presence of high poles, with telephone or other which are wires possibly no longer is use, preventing safe landing and departing flights at night.
L. # 300, 1931 complaint by the East Alameda Improvement Club, about street intersection lighting on High Street, and San Jose Ave. City Manager Neil B. Pierson was gathering pricing informatino for different lighting for the intersections.
M, # 303, 1931 complaint by R. C. Walter, 2319 Santa Clara Ave. about shouting by newsboys at Santa Clara and Park Street. Also M.R. Blankenship, owner of Log Cabin Grill at Webster and Central, requesting 40 minute parking on Central, Police Chief Vern Smith was against this.
N. # 306, 1932 complaints about Mr. R. Medus about unleashed dogs biting people; complaint about Mrs. McLean from 1823 Encinal Ave., about an art store business adjoining her property, and a history by Building Inspector Rogers about the various complaints about various businesses over the years by the same Mrs. McLean; complaint about use of tools at 1116 Park Ave; conditions that had been complained about at property of A. E. J. Duchasney, south end of Park Ave, had been corrected.
O. #311, 1932, complaint by Mr. A. Ghiglone, 425 Pacific Ave., about a culvert installed by Southern Pacific Company, being too small. Culvert was replaced.
