Acc. No. 15.22.1 Subject Category: Household; utilitarian Date or Period: circa 1900 Object: Bottle Description: A double-seam aqua colored glass bottle with the embossed inscription, "Lydia E. Pinkham." The bottle has a protruding spout for the insertion of a cork, which has since fallen inside of the bottle. According to Wikipedia, Lydia Estes Pinkham (1819-1883) "was an iconic concoctor and shrewd marketer of a herbal-alcoholic 'women's tonic' meant to relieve menstrual and menopausal pains.” Size: H: 5 1/2” History of Object: This bottle was recently excavated from the ground in preparation for the laying of a cement slab at a house located at 1547 Everett Street, a structure that was built in 1893 and found by the present owner.
