A. has a label with logo attached to the outside stating 'First National Bank'. A. also has 5 copies of the 'Islander' (November 1973, June-July 1974, Aug-Sept 1976, January 1979, Spring 1985), and 2 sections of the September 2, 1966, and 1 of the October 3, 1970, Times Star Progress Editions. Clippings often have discolorations from the glue used, and in some cases, are starting to come loose. A: 1963-1965; B: 1965-1969; C: 1970-1979. Sizes: A & B: L 16 1/2 x W 18 1/2 inches; C: L 16 x W 11 1/2 inches History of Object: Scrapbooks compiled by an unidentified employee or employees of the Alameda First National Bank, starting in 1963 and focusing on the bank between 1964 and 1979. The clippings relate to promotional activities, leadership changes, events around the bank location, and occasionally economic/financial developments in the world at large. The Alameda First National Bank was established in 1964, was located at 2424 Santa Clara Avenue, with a branch at 1414 Webster and Oakland airport. The bank and was absorbed into the U.S. Bank of California in 1997. ‘The Islander’ was a publication of the bank. The editions included mention the founding of the Victorian Preservation Society, the state of the Del Monte property in 1976, and the lack of ferry transport.
