History of Object: label used by photographer and picture framer Louis H. Wessel, 1415 Par Street, to identify his work. Possibly fallen off, or saved from the back of a picture in the collection. Wessel came to Alameda in or before 1898, tried to establish himself as a photographer, was a clerk for C.P. Magagnos, married, and tried to run a photography and framing business, first in San Francisco in 1906, then in Alameda. By 1915 the family had moved away.
