History of Object:
Miscellaneous documents from / to the council and/or mayor of Alameda, started in 1913 with later additions (and one from 1912), found in the attic of City Hall during remodeling in the 1990s. Documents in this folder include: personnel decisions; Annual Auditor’s report 1913; Streetwork completed by Powell Brothers (2129); Inspection report of Fire Stations - equipment, building, horses (Item 2118, 1913), and complaint by Young Men’s Civic League on their letterhead; reactions pro/con to plan to combine office of building inspector with office of sanitary inspector, including reaction by H. H. Meyers and A.W. Pattiani (Item 2120); Dangers of surface contamination through lack of maintenance at People’s Water Company’s Fitchburg Field with photos (Item 2110, 1912); Item 2121 - Pacific Telephone & Telegraph report for 1913 and rate changes; Item 2115 - Pacific Coast Borax Co. wanting to bore a well in the sidewalk; Item 2138; Chamber of Commerce complaining about a fill by the S.F. Bridge Company on Railroad company land, on stationery including a seal for the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exhibition (1913). Item 2142 - Appointment of Mrs. Theresa Speddy to the Board of education (1913), possibly first woman appointed to a City position.
