History of Object: Framed pastel painting that was given by the artist Edwin Siegfried (1889-1955) as a wedding gift to Maud Charlotte Bremer & Winslow J. Foster, upon their marriage December 25th, 1914. The Bremer family were early residents of Alameda. Maud was the daughter of Otto (S.F. gunsmith) & Charlotte Bremer.

Siegfried, tireless interpreter of Alameda marsh scenes, was a native of this city, and member of a prominent pioneer family. This particular painting was given by the artist as a wedding gift to Winslow J. and Maude C. Foster, December 25th, 1914.
