Object: Scale.
Description: It is brass, nickel plated. It rests on an iron stand, which in turn is fastened to a wood base. It is inscribed "J. T. McNally, Inventor". It has nine slits in the nickel plated surface for inserting various coins denominations to verify proper weight. Each slot is engraved with the designated notation (i.e. 50c or 25c or dollar or various gold coins).
Size: 9½ inches in length, by two and one fourth inches.
History of Object: old fashioned balance scales over one hundred years old (donated 1956). It was used by Leon Konigshoefer's father for weighing money to see if it was counterfeit.
