Description: A 2-gal. galvanized steel bucket that has a bail-style handle with a wooden grip. The bucket tapers inward from the top down to the bottom, and it has on its side the original paper label stating: "BOYCO, United States Steel Co.".
History of Object: The BOYCO Company was established in Alameda in 1923 and it was purchased by United States Steel in 1939.

A collection of sheet metal containers
produced by the BOYCO MFG. CO.
Originally based in Los Angeles it expanded
operations in 1923 when it purchased
property and initiated construction of a
manufacturing plant in Alameda in 1926,
which was located in the 1800 block of Oak
Street. In 1939 it was bought by the United
States Steel Products Co., which continued
the manufacturing of sheet metal containers.
