History of Objects: File Folders with documents, found in the attic of City Hall in the 1990s. The documents pertain to the organization of Flag Day Celebrations of 1953-1963, the earlier ones took place in Washington Park, after 1959, at the Elks Lodge. The Flag Day was proposed by Sherwood Jones, and councilman/Vice-Mayor/Mayor William McCall was frequently committee chairman. The documents include guest lists or lists of participating organizations and their representatives, correspondence, purchase orders, programs, reviews and newspaper clippings, promotional material for participating organizations, meeting minutes, sample (or left-over) badges, parking labels, sample award certificates, etc. Some folders have photos. Folder 10 includes a full list of 1955 Park Street business district and Webster Street businesses, sorted by address number. Folder 28A has photos of the 1958 proceedings; folder 21 of the 1959 event. Folder 28A also has a 1951 flag day program (Committee Chair Leland Sweeney).
