Description:
It is a semi-arc panel of wood (painted green), on which is mounted scroll saw cut out letters painted white "G. Schaeffer Co."
Size: The arc mounting is 7 in. by 48 in. The letters are about 3"x5".
History of Object: This sign was used in Schaeffer's vegetable and grocery store at 1407 Park Street from about August 1885 to March 1953....around 68 years. Mrs. Schaeffer senior, opened the store and Al and Gus Schaeffer ran it all those years. Building has now been remodeled for the Alameda Jewelry Store.
