HISTORY OF OBJECT: Belonged to Mrs. Walter (Grace) Tibbitts. The Tibbitts settled in Alameda about 1896-97 and founded Barnes & Tibbitts, Ship Builders and Repairs. Mr. Tibbitts sold the firm in 1920 and it became General Engineering & Drydock Company.
