History of Subject: Bag, used by one of the nurses of the American Red Cross, Alameda Chapter, of 2226 Santa Clara Avenue, to make home visits in the early and mid 1900s. In the bag are the tools the nurse used to make bandages and take care of wounds.
Bag was given to the donor by Florinda Bartalini, mother of Judge Richard Bartalini of Alameda. Mrs. Bartalini ran a baby clinic in the Lincoln Avenue Family Community Center, for which the county provided a nurse, from the local Red Cross Chapter. Donor, a trained nurse, moved to Alameda in 1974 and served on a Health Committee where she met Mrs. Bartalini.
