Description: Sepia-toned albumen-print photo mounted on tan paperboard. Photographer: Hoffman Bros., 810 Third St., Oakland (per rubber stamp on verso). Damage to image includes: minor foxing and spotting, a glue stain about 1/2-in. high and 5 1/2-in wide along the bottom margin, identifying numerals in white ink. The mounting is damaged by: an old green cataloging label glued to the upper left corner, dark glue stains on the upper mid-section and along the bottom margin for 5-in width, and a 1 1/2-in vertical tear and a nail hole along the top midsection.
Size: L-6 1/2 x W-9 1/4 in.
History of Object: Group portrait of members of the Alameda Police Department taken around 1878 in the garden behind Schulers Palace Brewery, across Cottage Baths on Central Avenue. Members are identified on verso. (Same image as Acc. No. 97.66.1.)
