Description: High Gloss black-and-white photo of a group of people dressed up for an event or performance; including a mustachioed man made up with black face paint, and including a live goat mascot wearing a cover stating 'Alameda Joys B.P.O.E. 1015' and a drum with 'Alameda Elks Joys'. Verso has a stamp 'from Laboratories of Frederick-Burkett Photographers, Sacramento', and handwritten in one corner 'Bill Bailey'. There is a 1" tear starting from the top left margin. The negative has been numbered '1.'

History of Object: Group photo of the 'Joys' group of the Alameda Elks Lodge, perhaps visiting Sacramento. The photography business of Frederick-Burkett was in operation in the late 1920s through 1930s. Gus Avanzino of 2041 Pacific Avenue was a member of the Elks.
