History of Object: drawing of 2037 Alameda Avenue, by artist Marion (Maidie) Morrison (1915-2003). Morrison moved to Alameda in 1948. A print based on this painting was included for the month October in the 1975 calendar published by the Alameda Architectural (then Victorian) Preservation Society. 2037 Alameda Avenue is an Eastlake residence, built in 1882 by J.N. DeNise, original owner: Eugene Bissell, printer at the Oakland Tribune. The house looks still mostly like on the painting except it has lost the decorative millwork above the front porch. This original drawing hung in the Bay Farm Island library for many years; information of how it came to be at the library had been lost.
