Object: Manger / Nativity Scene Figurine
Description: Statuette of gypsum of a man, kneeling on the right knee, with right hand fisted on the bent right leg, left hand folded on left hand, head tilted right. The figure is hand-painted and glazed, with light brown hair, beard, and moustache, wearing a lavendar-purple under-robe, a dark purple-brown cloak, and red shoes. A line of gold-paint decorates the hem and sleeves. The base is painted grass-green. Underside is stamped: 'Germany' in black.
Size: H 4 1/2 x L 2 13/16 x W 2 1/8 inches.
History of Object: Figurine of Joseph, part of a Manger or Nativity Scene of the Martin Family, who came to Alameda in the early 1900s.
