Description: Elaborate printed marriage license, impressed with the seal of California. It has inscriptions in sepia tinted ink of parties married, date, and county clerk signatures. License folds in half, the outside having a certificate containing personal statistics, minister, et cetera.

History of Object: The marriage license of Herbert D. Clark and Emma Adell Mitchell, August 30th, 1900, San Francisco, California. Mr. Clark was raised in Alameda being a member of a family that came here in 1878. He was prominent in the insurance business for many years. The family home was at 1823 San Jose Ave.
