Description: certificate on off-white paper, with lithographic border and header, stating ‘The Grand Council of the Order of De Molay’. The certificate has typed information: number 828820, Rudolph Fred Taube, and initiation degree, September 1940, DeMolay Degree, September 27, 1940. History of Object: certificate of induction into the order of De Molay (also spelled DeMolay) of Rudolph Fred Taube. The family moved to Alameda in the 1900s, building their home at 1815 Wood street in 1914. Daughter Margaret was born in 1914, son Walter in 1925, and Rudy in 7/2/1925. Walter was also a member of DeMolay.
DeMolay International is a youth leadership organization with Masonic origins for young men ages 12 to 21. It was founded in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1919 and named for Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. DeMolay was incorporated in the 1990s.
