History of Object: Photo album of the Kahlke sisters who were graduates of the Alameda Sanatorium school of nursing in the 1920's, and practiced nursing there. The photos depict the early hospital staff, nurses and doctors of the period.
The Kahlke sisters, Augusta, Anna, & Lena were graduates from the Alameda Sanatorium school of nursing. They were originally from Livermore, California. Augusta (mother of donor), married Alfred Hoepner (son of Cornel P-died 1915). The Hoepners occupied 1621 Sherman Street from 1906 to 1941. Alfred's brother, Walter, married Augusta's sister, Anna.
