History of Object: Image of a Spanish Colonial style residence with an exterior stairway titled, "La Escalera". Location unknown as the photographer was residing in Oakland in 1930 when this image was awarded a prize by Camera Craft Magazine (per Polk's 1930 Oakland Alameda Berkeley City Directory). Mr. Dressel was listed as an electrical engineer with PG&E. By 1933, however, he was residing in Alameda at 949 Buena Vista Avenue and was identified only as a clerk. As for the photographer's name, it varied in spelling by his signature and by the slight variations in the two city directories.
