HISTORY OF OBJECT: Framed photograph of the Dr. F. W. Vowinckle Mansion, 325 Pacific Avenue, near 3rd Street, Mr. Vowinckle purchased the property in 1903. He was a brilliant German surgeon and head of a women's hospital in San Francisco. The house was surrounded by dense foliage, and furnished inside with art treasures from around the world.
