Signed on lower portion of photo "Gertrude Cockroft, Alameda, 17". Subject- double portrait, theatrical pose. Size: 7x10 inches History of Object: Quoted by Ms. Eleanor Clark: Herbert Clark took many parts in the numerous Elks Plays & Minstrel Shows. To him the most memorable was "Advertising Pays" which made the rounds of the various Army & Navy installations during W.W.I. In this play he took the part of a French Countess. His wardrobe was supplied by the leading ladies stores of the time; including numerous furs, bags & jewelry & costly dresses. The gentleman with the Countess is Norman Paterson, born in Australia & later married to Alla Mastick of Alameda. Picture was taken by Gertrude Cockroft, well known in Alameda.
