History of Object: School photo of the 1961 Lincoln School 7th grade Glee Club. Lincoln School was located on the west side of Court, between Van Buren and Jackson Street. Originally (from 1855) the Schemerhorn School, then (in 1864) the Alameda School, and subsequently (in 1892) the Wilson School (renamed to Lincoln in 1911) occupied the spot, and in 1917 a new Lincoln School building was constructed on the site, and remained in use until it had to be torn down in 1977 since it did not match 1933 California school building standards.
