3/26/2021 MvL: sign on top of the display case: ALBERT STAGNARO -STAINED GLASS ARTIST- (Sept. 2, 1895 - Aug. 3, 1991) He was born in San Francisco and moved to Alameda with his parents following the 1906 earthquake and fire. He attended Mastick School and began working with glass in 1918 when employed by Delacour Art Glass at 1911 Webster St., Oakland. He later purchased the business, changing its name to Stagnaro Art Glass Works. In 1928 he had a new studio built at 333 9th St., Oakland, where he remained in business until he retired and closed his studio on July 27th, 1973, at age 79. Mr. Stagnaro bought property in the Fernside district, Alameda, where, in 1926, he moved into his newly-built home, residing there until his death in 1991. In 1920 he married Rita Caroline Anderson, a San Francisco native, who was born on Mar. 12, 1899, and who died on June 9, 1990. They had one daughter.
