History of Object: Photo of Oscar & Gretchen Busse and their daughter Hennylotte sitting with unidentified neighbors on the steps of 1523 Mozart Street, Alameda. History: The following glass negatives & prints are known as the Busse collection. They were produced by Oscar Busse, an artist and amateur photographer employed by the Schmidt Lithography Co., San Francisco. They were found in the basement of 1523 Mozart Street, Alameda which Mr. Busse & family occupied from approximately 1912 to 1976. 1523 Mozart Street (a Victorian Eastlake style cottage, high basement) was erected in 1885 by the pioneer builder Denis Straub for Otto Bremer, San Francisco gunsmith. Many of the subjects depicted in the negatives and subsequent prints were identified by the surviving daughter of Oscar & Gretchen Busse, Olga Luer, 1617 Wood Street, Alameda, phone 523-3877.
