History of Object: Photographic portrait of Harriet Beal Thompson who was the wife of Robert R. Thompson, owner of the Artesian Water Company. She was born 1822, in Cadiz, Ohio and died July 31, 1908. Harriet and Robert Thompson were married March 30. 1841. They crossed the plains in 1846. They were the great grandparents of the donor, Mr. Branscheid (who was a former mayor of Alameda).
