History of Object: Photographic portrait of James Millington, a pioneer Alamedan, who settled here in the 1850's and eventually became City Clerk. He resided originally on Central Avenue and Court Street, which later became the site of the original Lincoln School, now demolished and replaced by a housing subdivision.
Note: This and subsequent photos through Acc. No. 10.23.4 was purchased on eBay by the donor, a former Alameda Fire Chief. It is suspected that the seller may have been a descendent of James Millington.
