History of Object:
Photographic portrait of Mary Frances Thornton, born S.F. Sept. 29, 1870, brought to Alameda by her parents in 1875. Mary was the daughter of Abel Thornton, pioneer farmer of the East End. Thornton owned & cultivated land now known as Liberty Avenue. Miss. Thornton, mother of the donor, married her father, Fred Linderman, in 1895.
