History of Object: Photographic postcard of Ynez Gertrude Koenig (2 years old), dated 1909. Miss. Koenig is a descendant of two early Alameda families.
Note:
The following collection of photos were donated by Ynez Koenig. Miss Koenig’s paternal grandfather (Koenig) ran a pioneer dry cleaning establishment in Alameda (located in the 2300 block of Alameda Avenue). Her maternal grandfather (O'Brien) lived on Broadway in a house still standing (1985) and was a sailmaker by profession. The O'Brien family are known to have been living in Alameda as early as the 1880's.
