History of Object: Photos of New Zealander (with American relatives) Edith Elizabeth Herrick (1866-1958), second wife of Donald Cohen (1870-x), son of Alameda pioneer and estate-owner Alfred A. Cohen. The couple married in Modesto on June 9, 1926, only 6 months after the death of Donald's first wife, without informing friends or family. Edith went back to New Zealand after the death of Donald (1943), taking various Cohen heirlooms, saved from the fire that destroyed the Fernside mansion, with her.
