Description:
Two glossy black-and-white photos of people around a flagpole on a street corner. Some of the people seen on the back are wearing sailor’s uniforms and holding instruments. A street sign states ‘Santa Clara’. A sign at the base states ’Welcome Home Veterans’.
A shows a flag half way and has ‘Naval Air No. 9 on the back, B has the flag at the top and has Naval Air No. 8 handwritten on the back.

History of Object: two photos taken at consecutive moments during a flag raising ceremony at City Hall lawn on the corner of Santa Clara and Oak. Likely part of a flag day event June 11, 1944, or subsequent years, when Otto Rittler was in the organizing committee.
Photos were part of a collection of uncataloged photos from the Rittler Estate.
