A white typed description label, or remnants of same, is found on all images except #c, which has a number written in black ink on its bottom margin. Photographers unknown. Modern contact prints. Size: #a - L-7 x W-5; #b,c,d: L-5 x W–7 in. History of Object: Water system photos: #a - a plaque commemorating the laying of the cornerstone of the "Tank Building" for the Artesian Water Works of Alameda, 1880; #b - Norton Water Works, artesian wells located near Santa Clara Ave. on Grand St.; #c and #d: identical images of the Thompson Water Works, artesian wells on High Street.
