History of Object: Series of photos taken at a retirement party for George Jurgens held at an engine repair facility at the Alameda Naval Air Station. A few photos have some name identification their verso, but most people are unidentified: A) group of men posing around an aircraft engine; B) same group, different pose; c) two mechanics posing by an aircraft engine wrapped in butcher paper inscribed with messages; D) workers posing beside the annotated butcher paper which has been stretched out on a portable easel; E) similar scene, different men; F) four female workers standing behind two sheet cakes; G) workers assembled to hear speeches by officials; H) a scene showing a group of officials in the background and workers in foreground; I) women preparing the post-ceremony refreshments; J) the crowd enjoying the refreshments; K) group of workers watching the ceremony; L) overhead view of the crowd watching the ceremony; M) N) O) P) & Q) similar scenes to "L"; R) four officials, identified on verso; S) man at podium identified as George Jurgens.
