Size: L-36 x W-31 inches. History of Object: Portrait of Master Arthur Lingard Nield, born San Francisco, May 6, 1890, died December 4, 1965, Alameda, Ca. He was the son of John Lingard and Charlotte Stradling Nield. The family came to Alameda when Arthur was 6 months old. They had a house built at 818 Pacific Avenue (still standing 1994) in 1892. Arthur, who attended Glen Taylor School, Acquired from: Alameda, was a chief engineer for an oil company. He was later employed as a supervisor for a heating & plumbing company (Leland & Haley Corp. S.F.) who had the contract to build the S.F. War Memorial Opera House & the Veterans Building. Acquired from: Ruth Nield (daughter of Arthur) Date: 6-25-1994
