Subject Category: City of Alameda; Streets of Alameda
Date or Period: 1881
Object: Map of divided lots for sale
Description: Hand-drawn on heavy-stock paper in black ink, showing proposed real estate parcels between Court St. and High St., north of Central Ave. It is stamped "GILBERT & BROWN," "REAL ESTATE AGENTS," "Park St., Alameda." just below the middle of the top border.
Size: L 11.5 " x W 33”
History of Object: Since this was never filed with the city, it appears to be just a proposed subdivision of this part of the land owned by the Sather Trust. The partnership Gilbert and Brown was dissolved in 1885 and this land remained in the Sather trust, until it was subdivided in a different manner many years later. Today, Fountain St. runs through the middle of this area, parallel to Court St. and High St.
